If you are experiencing problems loading the MyDMV page or login issues despite entering your correct login information, DMV recommends you use the latest version of your device’s operating system (OS) and browser.

Replacement Driver’s License

Visit a DMV field office. Fill out the driver’s license/identification card application before you go.

If you know your account password but want to change it:

Please see the Change Your Password link in the Account section of the MyDMV page.

If you do not know your account password:

You will need to go through the Password Reset workflow.

Note: Password Reset requires access to the email associated with your account.

If you have access to your current account email and want to change it:

Please see the Email Change workflow.

If you no longer have access to your account email and cannot access your online account:

You will need to complete the Email Re-Registration workflow.

Note: This workflow will require you to have access to the phone number associated with your account.

If you no longer have access to your account email or your account phone number:

Please call the DMV contact center at 1-877-563-5213.

If you have access to your account phone number and want to use a different phone number:

Please see the Phone Number Update workflow.

If you no longer have access to your account phone number but do have access to your account email and password:

  1. Begin the login process to MyDMV.  
  2. On the Account Verification page that asks you how you would like to receive you phone verification code, click the link ‘I no longer have access to my account phone number.’
  3. This will send you a verification link via email. Click that link to go through the phone number reset process.
  4. You will be prompted to enter some personal information to verify your identity as well as the new phone number you would like associated with your account.

If you no longer have access to your account phone number and cannot access your online account:

Please call the DMV contact center at 1-877-563-5213.

If you are locked out of your account, wait 30 minutes and try to log in again.

If your account is still locked after 30 minutes please call the DMV contact center at 1-877-563-5213.

Please verify your information is 100% correct. A single typo may be enough to fail identity verification. Information may include:

  1. Email
  2. California DL/ID #
  3. First Name
  4. Last Name
  5. Physical Address – do not use a P.O. box
  6. Date of Birth
  7. SSN
  8. Phone Number

If this information is all correct but your identity still cannot be verified, please call the DMV contact center at 1-877-563-5213. Depending on the transaction you are looking to complete our call center agents may be able to guide you through an offline process.

If you paid online and did not receive a confirmation of payment, please allow 72 hours and then contact the DMV contact center at 1-800-777-0133.
